The ISOfix points are usually quite easy to find.

Sometimes VERY easy...

But in this car you'd be forgiven for thinking it didn't have ISOfix. The only clue is a little tag on the upholstery.
Car Seat Advice UK | ISOfix point guides
All ISOfix car seats come with a pair of these guides for cars with difficult to reach ISOfix points.

They are fitted around the ISOfix point to hold the upholstery out of the way, which makes installing the seat much easier.

Here the ISOfix arms have been slotted into the guides.

However in most cars the ISOfix guides are not necessary and you can push the car seat or base further into the backrest without them, making the installation more solid.
Car Seat Advice UK | ISOfix base support leg
Most Isofix and some belt fitted seats have a support leg to prevent the seat from rotating in a crash.

The length of the leg is adjustable to ensure a correct fit in your car.
Car Seat Advice UK | Rear facing tether straps
All rear facing car seats up to 25kg use lower tethers. These are wrapped around the runner rails or the front seat...

This seat only has one tether strap which is attached to one of the front seat's rails.

Some forward facing seats have a top tether strap at the back. The hook on the end of the strap attaches to the point in the car and the strap is pulled tight.
Car Seat Advice UK | Top tether strap
Usually the top tether straps come out of two slots on the back of the seat and have one hook that connects to the car's point. These are known as v-tethers.

The indicator turns green when the strap has been pulled tight enough.

In most cars the top tether point is located on the back of the vehicle seat.

Sometimes you can find it lower down at the base of the backrest, and in some cars it's on the floor of the boot.

Some bigger seven-seater cars have three top tether points in the middle row, but in most cars you will only find them on the two outer seats.

If your seat has a support leg (sometimes called a foot prop) and your car has underfloor storage compartments in the footwell, you will need to consult both your car's and the child seat's manuals. There are fillers available for some cars, some allow you to extend the leg into the bottom of the open compartment, and some car seat manufacturers don't allow their seats to be used in cars with storage compartments at all.
